Mandala

I’m sending directions to do a Mandala. I must say I’m going to do this. I can’t wait to hear from some of you to see if you try this. Please send them along if you try one. I’d like to know your experience too? I going to listen to either Christina Antipa or India Arie my two favorite artist.

These are the directions from my Anita. Her work seems so effortless, but you know something this beautiful has to take time.

You need some black bristol paper, or some good quality paper, not construction paper. And a white pencil that is a little chalky.
Then on the back of the paper write two or three words you’d like to meditate on for this drawing. Put on some nice music and let yourself think for a few moments before beginning. Put a dot of white pencil in the middle of the paper and start from that point. Your drawing will probably be completely different from mine and that’s the way it should be. You might have swirls radiating out from the center. Or pulsing dots. Or whatever. After you have finished the main drawing, then go back and rub some more white in some areas to highlight.
You can even add colored pencil to the drawing but pick only one or two colors and vary the intensity by rubbing lightly or firmly.
Let each shape and color and texture come from deep inside of you.
See what happens!

I have never seen anything like this before. A new challenge. Something to do in my spare time….
