Review#90: The Weather this evening

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

I stepped outside on a break today, before it had started raining, and I could feel the seasons changing. It was a little windy and a little cold. The sky was overcast and you could smell the ocean on the air. In all honesty it made me a little horny.

Note:I did not take the photo, I got it by googling “overcast”. I know I don’t credit the other photos I get from Google, but this one LOOKS like I could’ve taken it

Review#89: Silent Hill (2006)

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

It’s incredible to me that the best movie made from a video game is based on my favorite videogame franchise. A fan of the Silent Hill games can watch this movie and not be infuriated by the hollywood wash most movies get. I swear a lot of the scenes seem like they are TRYING to replicate a computer generated cut-scene.

The movie contains all kinds of detail elements from the games amd mashes them together into one story similar to the way DC mashed the Multiverse together during the Crisis on Infinite Earths. They even incorporate the maps in, having the character memorize them to see where she’s going throught the town.
One of my favorite parts was when the pyramid headed guy from SH2 grabs a lady and pulls her skin off, throwing the carcass at the door of a church.

Review # 88: My day at work

Skeleton crew. Thought it would be hell. Totally didn’t suck. I don’t know why. Maybe I’m getting sick.

Review# 87: Reno 911 Season 1 DVD

Sunday, August 27th, 2006

I don’t remember when The State went off the air. I DO remember wanting to watch their Halloween special on CBS one year, but my mom wanted to watch something else. Five years ago I was fortunate enough to purchase every episode off of eBay for $80! I have no idea where those tapes are now. After The State, sopme of the gang got together for Viva Variety on Comedy Central which was based on a State sketch. It wasn’t nearly as good.

A few years ago, a glimmer of hope began to shine as Reno 911 started on Comedy Central. They now have three seasons on DVD. Not having cable I don’t know if they are still airing original episodes but I sure as fuck hope so. If they can’t bring me stuff I liked from the 90’s like The State, 120 Minutes and Hibernia Beach (this refers to a local San Francisco gay radio call-in show on the modern rock station before they sold out their original programming for Howard Stern and Loveline), at least I have this. And it makes me happy.
I’ve always had a thing for Tom Lennon, who I always suspected is the brains behind this comedy team. He and Kerri Kenney are an unbeatable team. Now Lennon plays a gay cop in short shorts. Woo-Hoo! The rest of the cast is damn perfect. If you don’t like this show it must be because you don’t like this brand of humor, not that the actors are doing a bad job. Most of the scenes have a large amount of improvising and one of the features on the DVD is long uncut scenes of these improvisations. The actors keep it up for about 15 minutes proving their professional might. Im not making sense anymore.

And they like to throw around the “N word”.

Review # 86: Bombs Over Baghdad by Outkast

I love this song. It’s speed, it’s beats, it’s harmonies. The only problem is when I listen to it in the car, I drive WAAAAYYYY too fast.

Review# 85: The new actor playing Chris on Passions

Friday, August 25th, 2006

Yes, I watch a couple soap operas, but no, I don’t think anyone on any of them is “hot.” However, a new actor has replaced one of the characters on Passions and I have to say he is reasonably cute. He’s a decent actor and is also able to emulate that awful fucking accent the other guy had. I don’t even know where he’s supposed to be from…England, Australia? who the hell knows? The problem is that the Passions website says nothing about a new actor so this may just be temporary.

Review # 84: My trip to Fred Meyer

Friday, August 25th, 2006

I was running errands this morning, feeding my friend’s cat, washing bird shit off my car, etc., and decided to stop by Fred Meyer. I need a new wallet and a lamp fpr my room. The overhead light is too bright at, say, 2 am when I just want to read. They didn’t have anything i liked in either category, excepy this lamp that was shaped like a monkey holding a lantern, but it was like 60 bucks. I decided to keep shopping, since I was there.
When I checked out I looked at what I bought: A steak, some marinade, a sack of potatoes, a bottle of champaigne and a copy of Scrabble. I thought “This looks like I have what would be a really great date.” But I didn’t have a date and it made me a little sad. But I finally had my own Scrabble, wich I’ve been wanting for a couple of years.
When I got home I put the steak in the marinade and noticed something odd. You know those rectangular stickers that are magnetized to set off alarms when you steal them? The STEAK had one in the wrapper! yeah, it was a $10.98/lb steak, so it makes sense, but I was a bit suprised.

Review # 83: My new bookshelf

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

Today I decided to get a new bookshelf after my other one tragically met it’s demise. I mentioned this to my neighbor and he told me that there were cinderblocks in the alley. So instead of driving somewhere and buying a new bookshelf I just grabbed six of the cinderblocks, brushed them out in case of spiders, and used the old shelving to make a brick and board shelf. It looks better that the other one did and it looks like it takes up less space, even though it’s about the same. I also don’t anticipate this thing collapsing, although I could be very wrong.jnrtg

Review #82:Little Bear Crunchitos

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

If you like Cheetos, the crunchy ones, not the puffy ones, eat these instead. They’re freaking awesome. They taste a lot better and the cheese powder isn’t as messy.

Review #81: Snakes on a Plane

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

So much fun. It’s exactly what you’d think, so if you think it’ll be stupid and don’t want to see it, don’t. I thought it’d be stupid and I DID want to see it, and it was. There was a lot of energy in the crowd so it added to the fun. In line, this crazy girl hugged me. it was cool. And the first thing that gets bit by a snake in the movie is some chick’s tit. hehehe…
