Diary!!!

Excerpts from a diary I found.

August 23, 1983

I arrived in Oslo and Denise and Christian surprised me with Lambie and Theresa. They were on holidary in Scandanavia. We had great fun. This night Lambie and Theresa came over for dinner and we sang drinking songs and drank aquivite (?). We had a blast and Theresa got really drunk. Well, we all did.
We started doing the rumba with a broomstick. I went over the top once and they broke the broom.

Denise’s wedding was beautiful. We drove up to the church in a Rolls Royce. Christian’s friend Karl drove us up to the church in a rolls royce with Bolero playing on the stereo.
The wedding was in a small church and Christian gave Denise away. The fun came after the wedding at the party. There were lots of speeches andI even had to give one. I made mine short and sweet. I sat next to Anders and we had a lot of fun. I started dancing with Karl and I started to get attracted to him.

The newlyweds left at 1:00 AM and the rest of the guests went on to Christians sisters house for soup. Karl and I kept dancing. He asked me if I wanted to see the rest of the house, we wandered around until we got to the sauna. Needless to say the gossip started flying.

I spent all of September in Zurich. Andrea found an apartment for us to stay in. We stayed with this girl name Briggette Steiner. She is a Swiss Air hostess. I worked really well and even did a show with Pat Cleveland.

I met Andrea’s boyfriend Sisco and we went to a little hotel called the Parediesli. Sisco’s a really great guy. We also had a going away party for Barbera Keaslin. That was really fun. We ate Italian food and got really drunk. Then we went on to a disco.

I haven’t made any decisions about Sam except that we are going to to have to do somethign about our sex life if we stay together. It really bothers me that he doesn’t have any money. I want to be with a man who at least has a progressive career. I was going to write a letter but I haven’t decided what to say yet.

November 21st

Andrea and I were in Zurich 2 weeks ago and we saw Ricci. We played a funny trick on him. We dressed up in all black and had candle light and wine in the living room for him. Andrea draped herself on the couch and I showed him in. We went with Martiz Neville to hear country western music. It was a blast.

I felt it at the time you found this diary, but I did not say. There is something creepily dead about this thing. I don’t know what it is.

How it ends after only a handful of entries and then blends in with the remaining empty pages, somehow leaves me with unease. It’s not until I see the pictures that it seals it for me. Or maybe it’s here, on the web, seeing again digitally, what I saw in my hands that actually pushes me over. I don’t know.

    I don’t know why. It’s just a feeling.

The picture of the party around the table really freaks me out. Not in a way that repulses me. But it freaks me out because it is so candid and yet so dead and forgotten. I mean this diary! Did it not truly mean what it meant to whoever assembled it as it was intended at one time — in the early eighties?

What happened to the party? Where did it go? Why did this anonymous diary place itself in front of you?

Peer into the eyes of the photos and the words of the captions. What is being transmitted? What is not being transmitted? Why, for instance, is the remaining 3/4ths of the book blank?
