i forget which book its in, maybe valis - but philip k dick theorizes that the entity trying to contact him is himself from the future. i wonder actually how many people have seen ghosts of themselves. i bet its a lot more common than you hear about. ill look around about it later.

Last year, a couple of weeks after Ben’s dad killed himself, I was lying in bed (kinda in that not quite awake but not quite asleep state) when I felt something moving inches away from my face. My eyes were closed-so who knows how I knew this but I somehow got the impression that it was a face…a face coming toward my face…in the dark. It was Ben’s dad. Naturally, I screamed bloody murder and jumped out of bed shaking.
Figment of my overactive imagination? Maybe.
That’s what my therapist will tell me in a few years anyway.
