Facial Hair Week Documentary

Friday, June 30th, 2006

In highschool we started the Facial Hair/ Rock n’ Roll Appreciation club so that we could have “extra-curricular” activities to put on our college applications. For two years running we had a weeklong festival on campus and Jake and Josh made a documentary about it. More info to come …

Radio Free Boont

Friday, June 30th, 2006

I set up a preliminary web-based radio station in my bedroom. For now, this is the link to hear:

Radio Free Boont

Eventually, I am going to set up a domain name that will stay the same, but I think this should work for now.
I’m going to leave my itunes going for the next couple days, so if you can give me some feedback and tell me if the signal is coming
through that would be great.

My plan is to play music by friends and folks I know in the local area, with perhaps some Art Bell type discussions when Tim Boucher
gets back in town (if ever). I might also broadcast live shows from the frontroom!

Go down to the basement

Friday, June 30th, 2006

I don’t know what happened to me, but I got kind of emotional while reading this post I found on BoingBoing! Backstory: Kid meets friendly man on the streets of the Bronx whose looking for new students to teach “electrical engineering” to. Apparently, free classes are taught on a whole variety of subjects in the man’s makeshift lab.

Go ahead and cycle through the photo set to see all the weird stuff in his underground bunker, and take special note of the empty seats ….

It just made me sad that someone is so desperate to pass on the knowledge they have and that he’s probably going to find it difficult to find people who a) are interested b) comfortable learning in such a nontraditional environment.

Yeah, so I thought I’d just pass along the link here, because I find it really inspiring and noble what he is doing.

Crossroads: A Retrospective

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

I do not know what got into me, but I am kicking ass tonight. I edited this floating copy of the Crossroads soap opera into separate segments for your viewing pleasure. Back in highschool, Jake, Josh, Ryan Galloway, the other Ryan, and Shawn Sloan all worked on these shorts that were played for the entire school over the television network. I may do some more expository writing on the wonders of each episode, but for now I will put on my reviewers hat and say:

“A beautiful portrait of a “Puberty Concentration Camp”, this episodic narrative mirroring Save By The Bell is more dark comedy than parody.”

Making of Crossroads

Of Note: In episode three, Jake added some Boontling to the script. If you pay close attention, when reprimanding one of the students a “Narq” says “I’ll have you thrown outta hear faster than you can say “huskin’ yer heerjick at the hurdy-gurdy*”

Success in Business

Wednesday, June 21st, 2006

Here’s a sad little find:

Walking over the Aurora bridge from Queen Anne to Fremont, I found a picture of a young boy with the film flaking away from the source. It seemed so ashes-to-ashes forgotten, I picked it up and continued my trails over the pedestrian overpass. About twenty feet further, I found another photo, apparently of the same boy:

The fortune cookie diagonally criss-crossing the boy like a beauty contest sash disturbed me, but the real mystery revealed itself when I peeled away the business card adhesed to the back of the grade-school portrait and saw this:

The Paperboy

Wednesday, June 21st, 2006

I’m so excited!!! Our first installment of archived boontdusties-era film stock! I am extending the “Tribal Music Pages” section of this website to include video, so we should probably now call it Tribal Artifacts, - which also means I’ll hopefully be adding photography and art in short order.

As you may know, the original plan for this site was to create a hub for both my own personal creative investments, while at the same time creating a space for the otherwise forgotten treasures smelt by my friends. Part of this vow means I have to wrestle fortunes from the clutches of genius’s who throw away shit in a manic fit. Thankfully, Phil (who has his own blog and posts more than me now!) recently gave me a Safeway bag of Kilboy Fuckbot tapes, and Landon delivered a shoebox of vhs gems – so now it’s my job as historian to get it all preserved to digital format.

Here is one such marvel, “The Paperboy”, a short film by KC, Jake, Josh, and Adrian Montano as “The Camera Guy”. I believe that the perpetual elvis machine even did the “music” in the background. Brings a tear to my eye everytime I see jake smacking down on that poor bicycle with a GODDAMN AXE!

What God Wants

Wednesday, June 21st, 2006

I was having a lot of personal issues with a friend about a month ago, and all this shit was going on inside my head. I was really ripping this guy a new one in my head, and then all of a sudden I found this note:

I particularly like the top line (basically, cause I can’t read the rest of the post-it-note).

As far as I can tell it says “God wants to break your self will and will use the area that you are complaining about”

A “planted” note found in Port Townsend

When I found this note, Amber was sure I had planted it :

Tom Hanks and Tighty Whities

Wednesday, June 21st, 2006

Long before the pitiful hairdo of the Da Vinci code, I considered Tom Hanks my personal sensai. Yes, I do believe I learned everything I neeed to know about sex, drugs, and transsexuals in a fine little film called “Bachelor Party”.

So it was with great pleasure that I found this card on the sidewalk down by Blietz Funeral Home in Fremont
