Only! Only! Only! Tonight on Hollow Earth Radio Amber & I will share new music picks from Wall of Sound, including Sublime Frequencies recordings from Burma and Thai Pop! We’ll also be debuting musics by Doug Haire who recently recorded our found sound set for an upcoming episode of Sonarchy! Plans also include live snippets from a noisy show last night at the Bikery with Talbot Tagora, Climax Golden Twin and Shearing Pinx, && music just recently imported in our library submitted by peeps all over the world. Also, I just picked up a rerelease of Penetration - An Aquarian Symphony by the YaHoWha 13. Check this out! It’s basically a bunch of psychadelic jams done at 5 a.m. in the morning by a former religious group based in L.A. Apparently they would wake up and pray and then go in the garage and rock the hell out improvised style! I’ll be playing the entire record tonight. But be warned - the insert claims that listening to the record three times with full attention will cause you to never want to listen to another type of music ever again. Personally, spinning this record tonight will be my round two and I believe I will have to keep it safely on the shelf from here on out … it’s like saying BeetleJuice too many times.

There was a show happening at a venue and my friend Tiffany (who does shows in Seattle) came out and said “Garrett, someone is messing with one of your displays”. Apparently I had an art show in the other room. I went in there and the was a teenager like flicking this little trophy bobbly-head spring sheep thing saying “the birds in the trees fly all around” over and over again.

I gave him the little trophy, we put it in the box. It was 14.95 on the price tag, I remember seeing that.

Also the venue was an old hospital that was still sorta functioning..it kinda reminded me of the Department of Saftey (a venue in Anacortes that used to be a fire department?). And this giant doctor, who was taller than me got upset that I hadn’t registered/checked in, but then later asked me if I wanted to be his apprentice, and he sorta interviewed me. I told him about how I was a religious studies major but that I also liked biology. He was blond. Thin and tall. A giant. Kindof like the funeral director where my sister used to work.

Outside I saw all these kids I knew when I was younger that I haven’t seen in a long time. They were all reuniting now that they were older.

I didn’t say yes, but I guess it was implied that this doctor really wanted me to help him. But there was some fear on my part because I was thinking “I may be good at learning new stuff, but I am really terrible with beaucracy and ‘proper procedure’” (like how I not checked in properly.He was annoyed with it … he told me I was not allowed to wander the halls) .. I don’t really know what my job would be. I knew he was a doctor of sorts. There were a few other hipster kids who were also considered “doctors”.

Sure. Respected him.

Kinda small. Awestruck a little. oh, he also kissed my cheek at one point when he was talking to me which I thought was weird.

Oh, one other detail. Another friend was in the dream … She had a huge binder full of trash that she had collected along 101..And each of it had meaning. It was a three ring binder with plastic sleeves..and everything in chronological order.”

If you don’t know anything about him and his Arkestra, I recommend checking out the documentary bits they have on Youtube. He was a total genius.

Late in the evening tonight, I made a joke about how Amber secretly makes compelling delicious dinners that require many plates/bowls to pull off, and does it in such an aromatic way, I quickly succumb to my desires and share in the meal …. only to be served the task of doing the dishes. My roommate said “Garrrett, you’re sort of like a mouse easily swayed by the cheese, or a bear quickly caught in a trap.” I told him he may be more right about that than he knows, and that at that very moment his little random side comment could actually be the universe speaking through him directly to me.

I don’t outright feel this way, but it keeps coming up so I am trying to look closer at my life to see if there’s something I am missing.

Before going to bed, I read about this art exhibit in a myspace bulletin:

In 2007, the ‘artist’ Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, took a dog from the street, tied him to a rope in an art gallery, and starved him to death.

For several days, the ‘artist’ and the visitors of the exhibition have watched emotionless the shameful ‘masterpiece’ based on the dog’s agony, until eventually he died.

I feel a little sheepish, as all I had to do was update my Wordpress install and now I have returned to my sweet blogging bliss. Ta-da!

I just got in my work mailbox from people I do not know who live in Alabama. WTF?

When you are presented with a country option selector like this:

Are you pissed off when USA is not at the top of the list? Do you think “C’mon, we’re the greatest country in the world, shouldn’t we be at the top above the rest of those loser countries”? I don’t mean that you feel it that strongly, but isn’t there a little inkling of that in the back of your head?
